The Golden Quilter Awards

Hi everybody! Padsworth here!

I have an important announcement to make!

I have a new job -- a new gig!

I know you think that I spend my days helping out Snoodles here at the Lilypad . . . and if the truth be told, I do!  I have to hold the lamp just so, so that she can see her sewing:

And I have to find just the right color of thread for her:

And supervise the free motion quilting:

And tons of other important jobs. But over at SewCalGal's, where the Golden Quilter Awards will be held, they really needed an emcee.

Someone with savoi faire.

Someone with dignity, and decorum.

An elegant frog. (One that can wear a top hat.)

Moi!!

So this year, I will be the master of ceremonies at the Awards!  These awards are a way for all of us to recognize and cheer for those wonderful people who give so freely to the quilting community....they make our world a more inspiring and fun place to be. There will be lots and lots of fun, so be sure to check out SewCalGal's blog and add your nominations now!

Yep, dah-ling, get out your stiletto heels and all of your bling! The Golden Quilters Awards are coming in February!

Here's a little background on these awards:  Some years ago, SewCalGal was thinking about the Oscars, and how they (and other awards) are given out to those in the entertainment business -- but we didn't have anything like that in our world-wide quilting community! I'm sure that you will agree, this community is made up of many talented and special people, 



SewCalGal has done such a tremendous job with these festivities, that we are a little intimidated. But Padsworth and DragonDrop and I will do our best to uphold the grand traditions of the event! (Grin)  Speaking of grand traditions, you can see previous awards and sponsors at her blog, on the GQA page.

We'll be rolling out the red carpet in January and asking for nominations --- nominees will be announced on February 8th!

Then we'll have two weeks to vote! (February 8 - 22) 
After that, the judges will do their mysterious work . . .

Then our star-studded awards ceremony will be here at the Lilypad, on February 26th; our prize party will be a day or two after that.  That is, if we can put that together after all of the partying and celebrating . . .

We are going to have lots of prizes from some wonderful sponsors, and if you nominate and vote, you will be entered to win!  So be sure to check back here and be a part of the Nominating Committee, and then be sure to vote, as well.
Also, if you post our badge (when it's ready), or if you spread the word (Facebook, Twitter, or your blog) you will receive extra entries!

Voting will remain open until March 31st, and then SewCalGal starts the daunting task of tabulating the results (we need to give her a big thank you, too!). She'll announce the 2012 Golden Quilter Awards winners on April 2, and then on April 3, the prize winners (those who voted and were PR angels) will be announced! What a fun way to celebrate the awards and our virtual community . . . so hop on over and vote!

Golden Quilter Awards 2012

It's that time of year again!

It's time to celebrate the folks that help us be the best that we can be! Nominations are now being accepted in these categories:

1. Best Quilt Designer
2. Best Quilt Teacher/Instructor
3. Best Quilt book Author
4. Best Quilt Store (physical)
5. Best Quilt Store (online)
6. Best Longarm Quilter
7. Most Innovative Product (physical)
8. Most Innovative Product (software)
9. Most influential person in the world of quilting to-date, aka "Lifetime Achievement"
10. Best Quilt book publisher

Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, March 4th. Nominations can come from anyone, so get involved! Think about who has inspired you . . . who has given you great service . . . who has taught you . . . see what I mean? The ideas are popping into your head right now!

Here is an important caveat:

For nominations to be accepted, they need to recognize someone or a business, that is truly "in the quilting business" and can be contacted through a website. As such, you will also be asked to provide a website for your nominees. If you do not provide a website and one can not be found, that nominee will not be recognized when it comes time to vote.

And here is another important note: Have all of your nominations ready when you want to submit --- you can't do it in ten installments, OK? (Grin)

If you have all the information you need to submit your nominations now, click this link "submit nominations" to proceed. If not, come back once you are ready. To clarify, once you submit your nominations you are not able to add or change your nomination.  All nominations are confidential, but your contact information is requested as you are also entered to win a prize, when you submit a nomination and again, when you come back to vote.   

After the nominations close, SewCalGal will do the important work of verifying the data and compiling the list so that all the members of the quilting community can vote.  That list will be published on March 12th, and voting will begin.

Winners will be announced on April 2, and you know who gets to party? We all do! There are sponsored prizes up for grabs!

The winners of the prizes will be announced on April 3.

Now, your mission, should you choose to accept, is to nominate the people, the businesses, and the products that you feel should win.
