Bingo Linky Party -- May for Me Preparations . . .

Remember this?

Why of course you do!! It's the Bingo card that I made and showed you! Did you make one? I sure hope that you did, because this week is the linky party for our games!

Just follow the instructions to post a picture of your card (and your list of squares) in the party at the end of this post.
Then post on your blog (or your Flickr page or Facebook page) and please put a link to one of our blogs. Your fearless leaders are Vrooman's Quilts, Hillbilly Handiworks, Marcia's Crafty Sewing and Quilting, and Lilypadquilting.
Your picture will show up on all four of the blogs -- the linky party will be on each of them!

Then take some time to visit some of the other party-goers, and compliment them on their bingo cards! It's a lot of fun!

This linky party will last from now til April 22, so if you haven't finished your card, you still have a little time. You can get full instructions here, and learn about the games, rules and prizes here

If you have any problems linking up -  Please Email Marcia --- Marcia@craftysewing.com
Let the party begin!! (Padsworth is already happy dancing!)

Happy Leap Day! Announcing May For Me Bingo!

Since this is Padsworth's favorite day, and it only comes once every four years, it's fitting that we make a lot of fuss, and wish every one of you a

Hoppy Leap Day!!!

I also want to join my blogging buddies in announcing the May for Me Bingo Games!  There will be four blogs that share in this adventure:

                                      Vrooman's Quilts

                                      Hillbilly Handiworks

                                      Crafty Sewing and Quilting

                                      Lilypadquilting  (you're already here!)

Sharon, Tonya, Marcia, and moi will be your guides on this fun, month-long escapade. Yes, it will be in the month of May . . . but you have some work to do, in order to be ready!

We've given you plenty of time, so don't grumble and be a cranky-pants! Here is what you need to make:

Yes!!  It's your very own Bingo card, and it's made with fun novelty prints! You'll notice that the "B" row is all blue prints or a blue item, the "I" row is yellow, the "N" row has red (and the free square), the "G" row has green, and finally the "O" row has purple!

Here is the run-down on my card:
"B" row (blue) gator,elephant,sheep,caterpillar,frog
"I" row (yellow) duck,blocks,flower,ladybug,ornament
"N" row (red) teepee,dog,ant,flag
"G" row (green) lizard,ball,dog,cherry,jackolantern
"O" row (purple) bone,fish,dragonfly,dragon,elephant

Pop on over to Sharon's blog (Vroomans Quilts . . . click right here and you'll be there in a flash) and she has posted all of the details --- including a tutorial on how to make your own Bingo card.

You have lots of time to beg squares from your quilting buddies, er snitch them while they aren't looking, er pull novelty prints from your stash and some of you might even win some squares from Marcia at her blog!   Tonya will be giving you the rules of the game at her blog.  Be sure to hop to all four of the blogs at the links up there today, and enjoy the start of our May for Me 2012 bloghop!!

Now, I hesitate to mention this, but Padsworth is nudging me and telling me to say, "There will be giveaways, and even a grand prize!"
And this grand prize will truly be grand --- Green Fairy Quilts is sponsoring a lovely jelly roll of Tend the Earth by Deb Strain . . . feast your eyes on this beauty:

Oops! I really should have sounded the "drool alert" warning on that one, shouldn't I? (Grin) Padsworth is such an enabler, isn't he? He wanted to make sure you saw it!

Have fun hopping!!
I'm linking up today with The Shady Porch "Rock and Share" party!

Better Late Than Never, Right?

Earlier this year, (actually MUCH earlier this year --- I am months behind!) some of my favorite bloggers celebrated "May for Me."

It was a month filled with quick projects, posts filled with happy notes of time spent playing with fabrics, or just playing in general, and doing things that brought joy to the do-er. In other words, we gave ourselves permission to just have fun!

We put this aside . . .

We enlisted our kiddos to help out . . .

And we made sure we spent time having fun . . .

. . . with our families and with our fabrics!

One lady that is close to my heart offered a Quilt Along, with pieced blocks and stitcheries. Tonya, of Hillbilly Handiworks, did an awesome job of designing a lap quilt to go with the springtime theme. Here are some examples --- Tonya completed one, and Sharon did too!

Now, here is the better-late-than-never part . . . I'm only just now completing some of the sections!

I'm utilizing the May for Me piecework, and a couple of the stitcheries (Thanks, Tonya!) for a quilt for my mom-in-law!

Oops! The photographer got a little wonky there!

I'm using some of my beloved thirties repro prints and solids, and this is the windmill stitchery block.

Here is the block with the tulip stitchery . . .

And here are some of the blocks laid out together:

I'm adapting and adding to the design that Tonya graciously gave to us. Tailoring it, you might say, to my mom-in-law's personality. Well, actually to her history. I'm adding some things that reflect the stories she has told us, of her childhood.

Here's an example:

See that wee little rocking chair? When she was just a little bitty girl, she and her sister received small, red rocking chairs and baby dolls to lavish TLC on . . .

She has told us that many evenings they would sit in their rockers in front of the fire, and tend their "babies." They would rock, and rock, and then their eyes would meet, and one or the other would start to giggle. Well, you know what happened then --- a giggle fest! They would chuckle and snicker and try so hard to be quiet, but then they would look over at one another again, and whoops! There they went again!

I'll be showing you some more of the blocks as I complete them, and tell you the stories behind each one.

I hope that you like seeing my work-in-progress!

Love,
