Apple core, Baltimore . . . Finished flimsy (and a party!)

(As always, there's a possibility you will see an affiliate link in my blog posts; that is how I can afford to keep bringing you the merriment and mayhem we are known for!)

We quilters like to celebrate when we finish a quilt top, right?

Well, celebrate with me! Apple cider all around! MMmmmmmm, appley flavor plus cinnamon! Warm and spicy!

Just completed my Apple Core quilt top. Yes, I know, it's been a long time coming along. It's been one of those projects that is worked on for a while and then put aside, then brought out again!

It's great portable handwork! In fact, I made up a name for it  -- POPR -- portable project!

Here's my top:

I began this back in 2012, can you believe it? Check out this blog post where I began from apple core pieces cut for me by Barb over at Bejeweled Quilts.

Some of the fabrics that she gifted me are my favs on this top; I love the Samoan prints!

Barb included some cute "Santa on vacation" pieces, too, like that on the lower left....Santa is swimming with the dolphins!

Of course, there's a little bit of everything in here . . . some thirties reproductions, some Jacquelynne Steves's fabrics, and it would not be one of my scrappy tops without some Mary Engelbreit!

I agree with Barb, the Accuquilt apple core die makes short work of the pieces. (I still pat my Go!Baby every day and tell it of my undying love!)

So much better than cutting them all out by hand!

If you are new to the Accuquilt concept, you should take a minute to head over to their site and look around . . . my Go!Baby is very similar to the newer Go!Me which is a great starter set! Accuquilt helps us with a die compatibility chart which is very helpful, and they have super customer service, too.

Today they started a new launch party! Click on that link to go and check out all the fun! Gotta love people that throw a great party, and Accuquilt sure does! Giveaways! Sale prices and much more!

The theme is "Put some ROAR in your day!" so I think it's going to be a lot of fun! Click here to be whisked over to the party! They will send you a link so you can join right in!

Hope you are staying warm and quilting!

Happy Valentine's Day runner

Ain't love grand? Padsworth, DragonDrop and I love all of our Lilypadquilting friends! And we want to wish you a very happy Valentine's Day!

(Oh, before I forget, there may be affiliate links in our posts here at the Lilypad; that's how we can get more goodies to create the merriment and mayhem that we are known for!)

Anyway, back to our story! I also LOVE bargain hunts and sales, and when Connecting Threads discounts their kits, it's hard for me to resist! They offered a runner kit about two years ago from their "All Season Table" series, and this past week I pulled that bad boy out and made a sweet table runner!

And what's even sweeter is that it is reversible!

I love the kits from Connecting Threads for two reasons: first, they save me time when I need instant gratification from a quick project! Secondly, they are always generous in their cuts of fabric; there are no heart-stopping moments of panic, trying to figure out if there's enough of one fabric or another in order to finish!

With all of the straight lines in these fabrics and block units (except for the paisley), I decided to do some big-stitch quilting with loops and "vines" and of course, hearts.

Don't ya love a striped binding? Awesome fabric choice!

And the way the stitches make the fabrics puff up a little bit after a wash? Love it!

It's hard to decide which of the two sides I like best! (Grin)

Of course, then the other table needed some Valentine's love, so I got out a runner I made some years back and now the window table is happy!

Gotta show you the swirls and hearts once more . . .

In addition to the kit from Connecting Threads, I also used my favorite choice for my big-stitch quilting: Sulky Threads' 12 weight cotton thread
No tangles, no breakage, and the snap end spool keeps my thread storage tidy! Check some out at tese links and you will enjoy it!

What's going on at your place for Valentine's Day?

Nonsense blocks and traffic humor

I suppose these blocks don't have a whole lot to do with what I saw in traffic the other day, but then it again, it WAS kinda funny!

I pulled up at a stop light and looked to my left just as this car pulled up alongside:

Out for a ride, just chillin'!

Gotta love it!

And yes, he's out cruisin' in a Mustang GT. (Grin)

Now, for my latest Summer Moon escapades . . .

Here is the smallest of the Nonsense blocks - I like that bunny print!

This block is almost all half square triangles. Oh, lest I forget, there are four hourglass units there, too!

Don'tcha love it when the points come together!

So, here for your enjoyment are the two smaller Nonsense blocks; the eight incher will be under my needle soon . . .

Mostly I'm trying to finish up a runner for my table - Valentine's Day is coming, right?

Reveal will be soon!

Love,
