Round Two

My first foot surgery went so well three months ago, that I'm headed back for round two!

Pretty soon, I'll have the official title of Bionic Grandma! (Grin)

Seriously, I will be back soon, and hope all of you have a fun Halloween.

Padsworth is kicking back, and DragonDrop, too.

(Kermit has the right idea, here.)

We're stoked to be taking part in the Very Vintage Christmas Sewalong! Check out the fun here at this link

We will be showing blocks later on.... grab your book by our friend, Lori Holt, and sew along with us!

See you soon, back here at the Lilypad!

Poly Fil and Poly Pellets, and more!

Padsworth here, to announce our newest blog sponsor! I think you'll love them! Ribbit!

Fairfield may be new to some of you -- I've used their products for years, so I wanted to introduce them to you! I love their battings, and their weighted stuffing beads, "Poly Pellets" are my go-to when making stuffed animals and remote caddies.

(In compliance with FTC guidelines, please assume the following: any of the links on the Lilypad may be affiliate links. I may receive a small commission from sales of certain items, but the price is the same to you. It's what keeps the lights on here at the Lilypad, and keeps the sewing machine humming!)

Fairfield has a broad assortment of quilt battings in pre-cut sizes, bulk rolls, and in bolts. I love that they offer renewable-resourced battings: cotton, bamboo, and wool, in addition to the many polyester styles they offer.

Are you like me? Do you prefer to shop from "Made in America" items? Never fear, Fairfield's American Spirit line is your new friend!

Those pellets I mentioned? Combine them with the popular PolyFil product to make adorable animals!

The Poly pellets are great for creating therapeutic sensory items: they work well in play objects and in weighted vests for calming.

Making bags and purses? Crafting projects? You'll love Fairfield's huge assortment of interfacings. It's like a menu at the diner -- so many choices! Do you want to stick, stabilize, soften or support? Your interfacing can solarize (provide a thermal barrier), smooth, structure, stiffen, or shield from allergens!  Amazingly awesome alliteration, right?

I really love this product, Oly Fun....it's an easy to use material that comes in lots of colors. It can be used indoors or outdoors! Look at these great ideas you can use just in time for Halloween!
Indoor/outdoor garland....

A treats tote bag....

Decor for the Halloween party.....

Clicking on any of those links will whisk you away to the inspiration page at Fairfield -- you'll see oodles of projects and instructions there!

Last, but not least, I'm always happy with companies that find ways to give back - Fairfield's We Make For Good project is a wonderful program; they love to post stories about peeps who use Fairfield products to create things for their communities -- and they select projects to fund with special We Make For Good grants!

I only introduce y'all to products and companies that I've used myself, and I hope you will click on these links and get to know Fairfield World.

I believe you will like what you find! From inspiration to shopping online, Fairfield is a great resource for our quilting and crafting communities!

New friends

Isn't it lovely to make new friends across the miles?

In my last post, I showed everyone my latest scrappy work in progress, and a dear blogger from across the sea, Shirley, showed me a photo of one that she is working on (or perhaps finished by now!):

I don't know about you, but I'm an easy mark for a beautiful kitty who takes quilt inspection seriously!

Love the photo, Shirley!

If you love it too, click to hop over to her blog -- she has lots of fun things going on!

Quilting bloggers...... wonderful community around the world!

Slowly but surely....

Pardon the poor photo....... it was raining and very little light coming in from my window.

But I wanted to show you that slowly, slowly, as I find time to play, a pattern is emerging!

How about you?

Have you gotten too busy for sewing time? Make a few minutes each day!

Stitchin' in the evenings

If you are like me, you enjoy having something in your hands to work on, even in what folks call "down time."  Now, please don't get the idea that I'm always stitching by oil lamplight.....  I only do that when we have a power outage. (Grin)

That's where some of these earlier photos have come from:

Here's my latest flour sack tea towel:

I enjoy stitching these!

Do you keep handwork handy, too?

Working on those blocks....

Remember that?

Over 150 HSTs and 75 (or was it 85...) four-patches. Oy!  Got them all ironed and squared up!

Wanted to show you the cute ruler I got to do them all with -- this made it so much faster! I'm usually slow to jump on the "buy this ruler" bandwagon, but boy, am I glad I got this one!

It's from our pal Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet (you remember the blocks we've made in her series, right?) and it was oh, so useful.
First of all, I needed to trim these blocks to 4.5 inches square, so the Cute Cuts Trim It 4.5 was just perfect.

Secondly, it Never. Once. Slipped. Seriously.

It has something on the back that keeps it safe and secure so that you can trim two sides and then trim the other two -- and it doesn't wiggle, er move, er, try to escape!

So, if you would like a recommendation, click on that linkie and grab one while it's on sale!

(I'm supposed to tell you that the linkie there is what they call an "affiliate" link, and your price won't go up if you purchase, but I may earn a commission so that we can keep the party going here at the Lilypad!)

Now that the blocks are all squared up, it's play time!!

Sew much fun!
I'll admit to doing some fiddling here, cos I want a "controlled scrappy" to ensure I don't have duplicates side by side.

Once I get some laid out, I'll piece them and show you more!

Stay tuned!
