Just a peek

Every moment that I can steal away and quilt, I've been working on my wall-hanging . . . but in spite of my best intentions, that has not been as often or as much as I would like. But I thought I would show you a peek at how it's progressing!

I'm no expert at the free motion quilting that I admire other people doing, but I think I'm getting better at one part of it --- meandering (or stippling, as some people call it).

Tell me what you think (please be kind!):

I'm filling in an area with adorable animals and Christmas ornaments, and I'm trying to avoid stitching over them! I think they are so cute that I want them to show up with no stitches across their little faces and bodies!

I'm hoping to be able to reveal the whole wall-hanging soon!

Love,

  1. I think it is looking lovely so far - I too am new to free motion quilting it is quite scary isnt it! I have two quilts I have finished but am too scared to quilt in case I ruin them - need to practice on small projects first I think!

  3. It looks fine to me. I think only quilters notice it that much unless it is extremely fancy quilting. When I am avoiding quilting over something I usually add an outline around it (of course with me that sometimes means I stitch over it because I got going too fast.)

  7. Good with the quilting, they say it just takes practice, and if you have the patience and courage, that's a good bit!

  11. Your stitches look really nice. I am signed up this Thurs for a free motion quilting class. Three of my friends are going. It should be alot of fun. Hopefully not so much fun that we don't learn anything. I am quite excited. I did take one other class a couple of years ago but the class was way to big and I didn't get the chance to practice as I had to get back to work. This time there is just the four of us and I am off work for the winter. We are also signed up for another class in Nov. I am determined to learn this. You are doing a wonderful job. Wish me luck also.
