Let's Party! (NEWFO party, that is!)

Padsworth and DragonDrop want to invite you to a party! Oh, boy, are they ready!

DragonDrop has realized that when humans say "party" it generally means yummy food and something yummy to drink, too! Check out this picture:

It's the monthly linky party over at Barbara's blog, Catpatches --- our Enabler in Chief has opened up the festivities and we all have an opportunity to show off our irresponsibility, er, compulsiveness, er, new ways to use up our stash. There, that sounds better. (Grin)

Let me show you my take on making these fun blocks . . . 

Ya got an old paper weight, er, phone book around the house? Well, tear out some pages and cut them into squares! I use 5.5 inches for my blocks. (Don'tcha love to re-purpose things?)

Next, I dove into my scraps, and the first thing I came up with was a handful of lovelies that Mistress Brooke graciously sent to me. I think most of you know how these blocks are made, so I'll just show you the results:

Please ignore the chubby, coffee-stained finger there, and concentrate on the scrappy loveliness!

Aw, they're so quick and fun, let's make one more, so I can show you my fav layout:
I do love me some basket-weave design! (One of the blocks has tiny kangaroos on it -- the fabric came all the way from Padsworth's bestie in Australia! Hi Mhairi!)

So if you want to get your hands on some, tell Julie, and she'll put together a package and ship it before you can tell your hubby, "Why, honey, of course those fabrics were on sale!" (Wink)

My NEWFOs

Hot diggity dog --- if there is one thing I'm really good at, it's starting new projects! (Grin) And today I'm linking up with the Enabler-in-Chief, Barbara over at Catpatches, who is hosting the party:

I'm calling her the Enabler-in-Chief because she is actually encouraging those of us with this issue, to start something new each month (and we don't even have to finish it!).  I love it!

Here is the e-reader cover that I completed (uh-oh, I think that is against the rules of the NEWFO challenge.....please don't tell!) for the Remember September effort for our service men and women.

And here is a little project for the crisis pregnancy center near me -- a small tumbler quilt to be used when the baby is tucked safely into a car seat, and needs to be kept snuggly and warm.

I was gifted with the tumblers (thanks, sis!) some time ago, and I think the pinks and browns will be sweet. I'm going to bind it with the quirky edge, instead of chopping off fabric to make a rectangle --- just couldn't bear to do that!

The Colonial Needle Blog Hop Finale

Moses, my studio cat, is quite happy that Barbara at Catpatches is our Colonial Needle bloghop hostess today.  Her blog is one of his favorites, as she regularly posts pictures of her special kitties: George and his ample-bodied assistant, Gracie.

When she posted a video of kitties "singing" Silent Night at Christmas, Moses nearly demolished my monitor -- he climbed up in my lap, then onto the desk, and then tried to get to the kitty in the picture . . . purely in a friendly way, of course. But we don't hold Barbara responsible for that. (Grin) Moses just found it irresistibly cute.

He also has a serious case of hero worship. It's not widely known (I think she had to stop his blog-posting because of celebrity issues -- you know, stacks of adoring fan mail, bundles of catnip, that kind of thing) but George's secret identity used to be Captain Cat-tastic. Moses so admires his bravery in the face of pythons, coyotes, neighbor spy-cats and the like.
