Enter our Giveaway! We're seeing stars! (Closed now)
See, I promised you a giveaway! (Grin)
The Fat Quarter Shop is sponsoring our contest! They've published a lovely new book, called "First Blush Block of the Month" and here it is! One lucky winner will receive a copy!
This book will have you creating an array of intricate star blocks, with no trouble at all! Because we are also giving away the snazzy ruler that helps you do that!
Here's an example of what you can create:
And here is the instructional video that will inspire you to get started using this ruler!
So, enter the giveaway, and choose your fabrics! If you are our lucky winner, you'll be all set!
Of course, if you want to get started now, just pick your fabrics and order your new ruler from the wonderful folks at Fat Quarter Shop! And here is a link for the book, too!
How to enter? Leave a comment below and tell me if you star-gazed as a young 'un, or if you still star-gaze now! And if you follow here, you can leave a second comment for another entry!
We'll leave our giveaway open till the weekend, and then select a random winner. That winner will receive both the book and the ruler! Easy peasy! (And the prize package is worth more than forty-five dollars! Woot!)
I'm likely to be working, sewing, or star-gazing myself, so bear with me if I don't answer each comment!
Oh! And if you are not certain that your settings are correct, leave your email in your comment, like this: stargazer(at)stargazing(dot)com. Then I won't have to get all sad and teary-eyed, and choose someone else, because I can't email you. (Grin)
Good luck!
Love,

I love studying the stars from the hot tub at night or while walking the dogs in the evening! Gunterheather (at) yahoo (dot) com
ReplyDeleteYES,we did as children+older children! Lying under the summer skies watching for shooting stars, tickling and giggling! Thanks for a great giveaway! msstitcher1214@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, I lived where we could see the stars; as an adult, I live in a big city where stars are hard to see because of the city lights. For a number of years though, we'd go up to a local mountain during a new moon with a group, my husband would set up his large telescope, and we'd have a "star party" with tail-gate foods while waiting for it to get dark. Now I mostly only see stars in my quilts :)
ReplyDeleteI love looking at the stars - I go out at night and wait for my eyes to adjust to see if I can see any shooting stars!! Lots of fun! Love that new ruler - the block Kimberly demostrates is cool!! mumbird3(at)gmail(dot)com

ReplyDeleteI have always looked at the stars, and when I was a child, we lived in a very remote country area. no other lights around, and could see them all so easily. When ouor Japanese student lived with us for a year, her comment was " The stars here are so much brighter than what we see at home", guess no pollution or lights. What a great ruler and pattern.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt. I like when the conditions are just right for star gazing.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did star gaze as a child. I loved lying on my back in the yard starring at the stars. As an adult I sit on the deck and star gaze. In our area the best star gazing was during a blackout. ;-> Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteI am definitely a star-gazer! Grew up loving to look at the sky, meteors, comets, etc, and now live in the country where we can enjoy without having to drive out to the country! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHi and thank you for a great give away! I have wished for that ruler! I feel that here in Greece stars are closer than in Finland! Nights are dark and stars can be seen so well! x Teje

I was not much of a stargazer as a young'un, but I am now. I love the night sky. (as a young'un I couldn't see that far, my eyes changed faster than we could afford new glasses.)
ReplyDeleteI do follow you here - and have for some time now. :-)
ReplyDeleteNow that we live in the suburbs again, I miss the clear starry night sky we could see when we lived in the country.

ReplyDeleteI am far from an expert on the stars, but fondly remember studying them as a kid and still love learning about them, as much as I do quilting stars. Although this makes me think of story I recently heard, about a time when a woman's son was a young kid. He had been in the back of their family van and when they parked, he came forward and gave his mother a permanent marker. She didn't think anything of it, but a few weeks later her husband spotted that the back of the car seats had a complete constelation drawn on them, in permanent ink. :)

We would lay on the ground and spend hours watching the twinkles and hoping for a shooting star so we could make a wish. As an adult I stil on the back deck and stargaze. I'm in the country so I can see stars that seem to go on forever. When I worked I always measured the passing of the winter months by where Orion's Belt was in relation to my car on the drive home in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI've been a follower for some time and enjoy your posts.
ReplyDeleteI love watching stars, especially during the meteor showers -- Loved it as a child and enjoyed it again just this summer. :)

ReplyDeleteI star gazed as a kid but really enjoy it now. We just moved out of the city and thereceive are no street lights to interfere. It is truly amazing.

We used to live near the Air and Space museum, and at night they would let people up on their roof to look through telescopes! Now I just look at the stars with my own old eyes.

ReplyDeleteAlways loved gazing at the stars. Our city has an observatory at it's university and there are days for the public, so that adds to the excitement. Also love to make star like blocks. This new ruler is really interesting. Would love to try it out!
ReplyDeleteI have done a little bit of stargazing. On a trip in Maine a couple years ago we were driving through a remote area at night and stopped to look at the stars. There was so little artificial light that the stars were really breathtaking. I don't often have a chance to see stars without the lights of civilization around.
ReplyDeleteI follow via GFC.
ReplyDeleteYes I am definitely a stargazer. Unfortunately it is a little more difficult in the city. Growing up in the country where you can see tons of stars I didn't realize that I wouldn't always live where I could see so many stars in the sky.
ReplyDeleteLove looking at the stars, but I also live in the city. The stars are limited to the brightest ones. It is a shock when we go camping, and all of a sudden you realize there are so many stars!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a new skill for me so that would be great!
ReplyDeleteFollowing Lily Pad Quilting on bloglovin, thank you, peterstankovich@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteI have star gazed when I was younger. Now I just kind of look up at the clouds, stars and airplanes. It is kind of cool! Thank you, peterstankovich@comcast.net
ReplyDeleteWe live in the country now and it's wonderful to be able to see stars again! So calming!

My grandfather started me on star gazing. We would sit out on the front lawn and look at the stars and try and figure out which ones were which. We didn't have alot of satellites back then so they were all stars. I now live in a rural area and can see the stars shining brightly all over the night sky. That is why I love making stars in my quilts, reminds me of those night skies.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved laying outside on a quilt looking up at the twinkling stars!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love star-gazing and making quilted stars.
ReplyDeleteI still stargaze...it's like dreaming with your eyes open.
ReplyDeletechouxqltr(at)yahoo(dot)com
Oh yes we star gazed when we were young. My dad taught me all about constellations.
ReplyDeleteWe live just west of Baltimore & Wash. DC, so the light pollution makes me sad :-( BUT we RV into the Shenandoah Valley, camp at the top of mountains, and then the stars are spectacular!

ReplyDeleteI grew up in Jasper Missouri. Its TOTAL country, and falling aasleep to stargazing was a definitely a benefit. I still love it, but I you can't find skies like that now around where I am. But I can make pretty stars in quilts! kwarren29@cox.net
