Celebrating with a Giveaway! (Giveaway closed now, but thanks for stopping by!)

I'm so grateful that we have over 600 followers now, that are peeping out from the right-hand sidebar, and we have others that follow through our RSS feed, too!  You guys and gals are the best!

Today we offer a wonderful prize package for you! We have several kind sponsors who have helped us out with the goodies, so let me show you all the great stuff the lucky winner will receive:

Quite a haul, isn't it? Here's a list of the items, with some photos and descriptions . . .

You can see that there's a copy of Interweave's Stitch magazine, full of projects AND patterns. It's an awesome resource for quilters and crafters.

There's a sample package of Sulky thread. This was in a prize pack that I won from McCall's Quilting, and I'm paying it forward, passing it on to one of you special peeps:

Now let's look at some of the other prizes . . .

This gorgeous Floral Fancies panel is sponsored by Kelly, at IHAN. Want to know all about the latest tools of the trade? Want to order them at really great prices? Would you like to experience awesome customer service and orders carefully packed by obsessive compulsive elves? (Wink) You can get all of the above from the IHAN online store.  I hope you will take some time to look at the many things she has in the shop; I know you'll have fun looking around.  Just click on that link and check it out!
Oh, and here's another prize sponsored by Kelly; the Mighty Bright -- fasten your peepers on this:

Kelly has some of the neatest options for lighting your work, in her store. These little guys are absolutely awesome - take my word for it, cos I ordered a set for me! You can clip them almost anywhere; my favorite way to use them is when I'm hand-stitching on a quilt or a stitchery, and I don't want to disturb anyone around me. (You know, like when you turn on the lamp and it casts a glare on the television, or gets in someone's eyes . . .)  The LED light in it is very bright, but only shines in the direction that I choose, so it is very discreet. There are two in the package, and I am in love with mine!
Kelly is a doll to sponsor the lights and the panel --- I appreciate it, my friend!

Next up at bat is Colonial Needle --- the prizes they sponsored are actually inside that patchwork pouch in the picture, but we'll show you pictures, anyway.  (The pouch is handmade by moi, by the way!)
Colonial Needle is a company that I discovered after I won a prize in Madame Samm's Wantobe campaign. I'd love to tell you about them, because I have personal experience with their products.

Have you ever reached into your sewing bag or tote, and when you pull out your hand, you've been scratched by one of your needles? I used to just stick my needle through the lining of my tote, and I was always getting poked or scratched!

I don't any more! Enter the John James "Pebble" from Colonial Needle! These sweet little pebbles keep your needles enclosed, and safely away from your hands until you pop open the top!
Here is what the web site says about the Pebbles:
Fine Quality Needles in a "Pebble" -The John James Pebbles are designed to store your hand needles safely, making them instantly visible and easily accessible in your sewing box, craft bag, top drawer or even your handbag. Each needle style comes in its own elegant and distinctive color for quick identification.
Personally, I have found that these are the absolute best needles I have had the good fortune to use! Seriously. I would love for all of you to try them, but obviously I can't give all of you one of the Pebbles! I would encourage you to check out the Colonial site and see them, and get a Pebble for yourself --- each color of Pebble is a different type of needles: embroidery, chenille, beading, quilting, and more!

Now, there is a Pebble in the pouch, and there are also some extra goodies tucked in, that Colonial Needle graciously supplied . . .
That pouch is just packed full of excitement, and I would like to thank the folks at Colonial Needle for their generosity in helping with this giveaway!  I hope you'll take a moment and go check out their site, too! They have gorgeous sewing baskets, cool, high-quality tools to go in them, and lots more for your quilting and sewing delight!  Spend some time shopping there, and tell them Snoodles sent you, OK?

Now, would you like to see some of those fabrics, up close and personal? Do you have a hankie ready? I guarantee these are drool-worthy, so be prepared!

First we have two fat quarters from the Scribble line, from Timeless Treasures. Pretty, huh?

Also in the package are these two beauties . . . I couldn't find a selvage id on the polka dot, but there is a full yard of it! The one on top is a half yard cut of Flora Lane, by Laura Berringer. Scrumptious!

How about a stack of TWELVE fat quarters? Lots of variety here, to build your stash, and all of these are quilt shop quality, too.

This is in there, too --- though I have to apologize for the blurry picture. I'm not positive, but I think these two fat quarters are from the Sausilito line.  They're pretty, anyway!

This lovely bundle is four fat quarters of What's Cookin by Loralie, for Quilting Treasures.  Super cute prints with chefs, pots and pans, utensils and polka dots!

Here are two sweet fat quarters from Blank Quilting --- I was afraid to look for a name on the selvage, for fear I wouldn't get them back into that pretty ribbon! (Grin)

Last, but not least, a gorgeous piece of Katagami by Red Rooster, and a quilt pattern to go with the full yard of fabric.

At this point, you need to wipe up your keyboard and the desk/countertop/your lap, and enter to win all of these awesome prizes! Here is how you do it!!

It's going to be easy this time . . .

We'll leave this one open through Sunday night, and announce our winner on Monday, February 27th. Sound good? Well, let the commenting begin - and make me chuckle!

  3. I can't see without my glasses. I always take them off before I get undressed and put my pjs on. The other night I was so tired but could not get comfortable. I finally fell asleep after tossing and turning for hours. In the morning when I got up and put my glasses on I realized that my top was on backwards and wrong side out.

  4. From a friend's Facebook post:
I put candy "X's" and "O's" on the kids V-day cupcakes, you know... to signfy hugs and kisses. Well, Jake snitched McKenna's "X and O" and she came in crying, "Mommy, Mommy, somebody ate my ox!!!"

  13. A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of seniors down a highway when his tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady. She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.
After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his should again and she hands him another handful of peanuts. She repeats this gesture about five more times.
When she is about to hand him another batch again, he asks the little old lady, "Why don't you eat the peanuts yourself?"
"We can't chew them because we've no teeth", she replied.
The puzzled driver asks, "Why do you buy them then?"
The old lady replied, "We just love the chocolate on them!"

  14. Some thing funny.........
John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, between the legs of me wife!"
That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night!
He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the Best
    toast of the night."
She said, "Aye, did ye now. And what was your toast?"
John said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life, sitting in church
    beside me wife."
"Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said.
The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street
corner. The man chuckled leeringly and said, "John won the prize the
other night at the pub with a toast about you, Mary."
She said, "Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know,
he's only been in there twice in the last four years. Once he fell
asleep, and the other time I had to pull him by the ears to make him
    come."

  15. Okay, this might be one of those "you had to be there moments, but our family absolutely cracked up when this happened: we were celebrating our twin sons' 28th birthday with cake, of course. We sang the traditional Happy Birthday and were passing out the cake. My daughter handed her nearly 5 year-old daughter her piece and she just looked at her and said "seriously mom, no icing?" Her frosting had fallen off. We all lost it and just cracked up. Needless to say, we gave her some extra icing!

  19. Something funny that happened, hmmm?
Well, I moved some 4 month old chicks out of my closet today and into the adult pen outside. I went to check on them a little later and noticed that the smallest one wasn't in the pen anywhere. I went wandering around the yard yelling, "Little One!" until it popped out of the bushes and came hopping over to me. I imagine the neighbors would have thought I was crazy to be calling for a chicken.

  20. As parents I guess we all think our kids are clever and funny so here's what my college aged son told me the other day. Him: I'm going on a cruise for spring break. We have to drive to Cape Canaveral to get on the ship. Me: Where are you cruising to? Him: Well, leaving from Cape Canaveral we must be cruising to SPACE!

  21. Recent funny - well I laughed, but the funny was on my fur babies. They always like to go in the dryer when I am un-loading - for the warmth and one likes to steal the dryer sheet to play with. I took a few things out and was going to toss the rest a little more and without thinking to look; closed the door and pushed the button. Luckily their 'un-even' weight made the buzzer go - two very frazzled puffed out kitties emerged - luckily not dryed, hopefully that cured them.

  32. True story, I was in the queue at the post office when the lady in front of me kept string and looking at me with a horrid look on her face, I kept wondering if i perhaps knew her and had offended her, really i could not think. My turn at the check out now, and finally i was told by the lovely lady behind the counter that i had a knitting needle sticking out of my shoulder! I had been walking around all morning, and i had no idea that it was there, a big fat knitting needle was caught in one of the stitches on my jumper! Problem solved. I just wish that the lady before me in the queue had said something instead of glaring at me, perhaps she thought i was going to hold up the post office Robin Hood style.

  38. Funniest thing of late was I finished a quilt I've been working on for a few months and put it on the bed and slept under it.

The quilt is meant for my daughter in law, maybe unless she chooses the other one that I'm working on now.. anyway hubby came home and got all offended.

"If you are giving this to LaRae then WHY is it on our bed?! Now it is USED!"

I told him I had to test it out! Truth is I hope she chooses the quilt I'm making now because I really want to keep the first one! LOL! Is that bad of me?

Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, 'My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them.

While eating lunch she broke out singing, "Nationwide is on my side" then turned to my mother and continued singing, "Nationwide is on your side too" and then to me "Nationwide is on our side." She was very serious and asked us, "Did you know Nationwide is on our side?" The TV was not on during her visit so she learned this elsewhere. Kids!

  45. This is a 'you had to be there' funny. I live on a street with lots of kids, and the kids play in the street. So whenever anyone comes around the corner, everyone yells 'CAR!' and the kids scramble out of the way. Sunday I was helping at a Girl Scout cookie booth - the girls weren't paying attention, and when someone came out of the store, instead of saying 'customer' I said 'car'! The other mom chaperoning lives on my street, and we both cracked up.

  47. I was helping to organize a customer appreciation day and my job was to go around to different businesses in town to ask if they wanted to advertise with us. I was headed to a local salon around lunch time and I was starving. All I had in the car was a mini Snickers bar. Well, evidently it had been in my car all day because when I opened it, it was melted. Of course, I ate it anyway, even licking the paper to get all the chocolate. I went inside, talked to the manager and then left about 20 minutes later. When I got in the car I looked in the mirror and I had chocolate on my nose. No one told me the whole time I was in the salon! :)

  48. I had one of those dumb streaks last week. Myself and 2 DILs were having a night out. With 1st DIL in car I drove to 2nd Dil's house. 2 houses past I realised I had overshot. 1st DIL's comment,"I thought as we drove past, I didn't know there were 2 houses just like 2nd DIL's on this street." 2nd DIl got into car safely. Now driving down Main Street, have to turn on Center St. Forgot, turned half way through intersection. Luckily, no cars coming. Proceeded one block, made left turn safely, drove 1/2 block to parking garage, almost missed left turn into garage. Turned hard left. DIL's stunned into silence by now. Pulled into parking space, backed out, tried to back into space, pulled out, had 1st DIL get out and keep me from backing into garage structure. Turned off engine, took out key, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. I used to think I was a good driver! We had a nice evening at the Opera once we got there.

  58. I have to tell you, the funniest thing happened yesterday actually. I received a phone number from a number I didn't recognize but answered any way. It might have been something important. Not the best decision since a woman immediately began to berate me for continuously calling her number since she is a very busy woman and so on and so forth. I was finally able to interrupt and say, "Don't yell at me. I didn't call you so YOU have called me and I'm a busy woman (big lie there.)" Well, I thought it was funny. . . .

  63. my funny story

I am pretty visually impaired without glasses. A few weeks ago I had just left the shower and was walking around my bedroom collecting clothes .
I looked down and started talking to my white cat sitting on the floor next to my bed.

then I put my glasses on. It was one of those white plastic bags from the drugstore not, my cat to which I was speaking. But, in all actuality my white is deaf anyway

  67. Nothing all that funny has happened to me lately....
But my mom has lost weight in the past several months. So I carried a sewing machine over to do some fitting for her. One skirt looked pretty much the same all the way around. I was adding darts in the waist band to take up the excess. So I put in the darts and had her try it on. Boy did I mess up. She put it on with the zipper to the side (where it belongs) and not at the back where I expected it to go.
Those darts looked really odd with one on the front and one on the back-instead of evenly spaced on the back. Good thing I did a basting stitch first and had her try it on to test it.

  73. Here's a joke:
Queen Nyteshade had two claims to fame. She could tell fortunes and she was a midget. The local authorities frowned on her because they thought that fortune telling was fraudulent. They had Queeny arrested. She was placed in a holding cell. Since she was so small she was able to squeeze between the bars of her cell and escape. This to incensed the judge that he ordered the local newspaper to print an article about the culprit. The following was printed in the paper the next day. Small medium at large.

  74. Am doing a quilt as a go (row by row) finish for a wall hanging. Have been really preoccupied lately and been mucking a lot of things up. Sewed the next row on. Secured the batting and everything. Went to straighten it out (can't iron as it is a 3 dimensional) and I had a double sashing. I sewed the wrong edge:( Needless to say I didn't touch my sewing for the rest of the day.

  75. And yesterday, my granddaughter decided that she wanted a new stuffed panda bear - but she wanted one for her mom too. 85. One day last week, my daughter and I were sitting in the van, with the windows rolled down slightly, having sandwiches for lunch. We had been hearing a bird chirping nearby-- not a pretty little chirp, but a scolding chirp. I said, "Wouldn't it be terrible if a bird flew in through the window!?"--- not seriously thinking that it might happen, but just chatting... Not two minutes later, a mockingbird flew up to my open window and started flying at it-- squawking-- and trying to figure out how to get in. I had my sandwich in one hand, a drink in the other, and had to try to turn the key and press the "roll up" button all at the same time-- screaming the whole time-- while envisioning what I would do if that bird *did* manage to get in the van!!! She finally flew down to the ground beside me and paraded around flexing her wings and scolding fiercely. I think that she had a nest in the big bush nearby and we were too close... My daughter and I had a good laugh after... but thank goodness, my window was not open wide enough for a crazy bird to squeeze by! LOL

I even looked in the hamper - I found her locked in her CLOSET! She was so proud of her accomplishment of getting in there but she couldn't figure out how to get back out. We now have a door knob lock on there in an effort to make sure it doesn't happen again! Mainly because I don't need another heart attack at 6:30 in the morning!

Poor DGS, who is 4, got really scared. DGD, who is 7, wanted to know all about them. When we came in the house we had to look up pictures of Sasquatches on the computer. When I told their mother this story she said "how could you look at pictures of something that doesn't exist?"

  94. A funny...Well, let's see, Some may think this is morbid, but here goes...My son was asked to participate in an anti drinking and driving program at school. He (and I) were thrilled to have him do it. It is called Every 15 Minutes. The school/program goes "all out" the kids who "die" have crosses in a "graveyard" at the center of the school. At the very end of the program (which lasts days) the kids (nd parents) are kind of tired and drained. They get to take their "stuff" with them (obituary, cross, etc...) So he took his stuff. We came home. His hands were very full, he stuck the cross in our front lawn...a few hours later I had several neighbors at my front door. They were there to offer condolences and were very confused when he answered the door. (I felt bad, but it was funny).

  95. Not necessarily fun, but very cute...today, my 3 year old said, "When I get bigger, I can cut and sew just like you!" It thrilled me that she wants to sew too!

So I've had her other two children for a couple of months and have had many "reminders" of what it's like to have little ones in the house again! Grandkids are the best!!! :)

  108. Our family are renowned for saying stupid things and laughing hysterically. We call it Cucumber Syndrome (don't ask!).

During the recent very cold weather we've been having in Europe my mother had to spend a few days with one of my sisters who was ill, to help her with the kids and generally do what Grannies do best! She drove the 25 miles in freezing fog. She texted me to say she'd arrived safely and the fog was freezing on the windscreen. I read the text out to my 16 year old daughter who said "Freezing frogs on her windscreen?". Hysterical laughter could be heard in Kent, London and France as my other sister, Mum and I swapped texts.

Another saying added to the family in jokes!

  110. I live in a remote-ish area so, on a drizzly Sunday when I notice a bus (rare sight) pulled to the side of the road, people standing about I wondered if they were ok (thinking broken down, remote area, Sunday). As we approached I asked my daughter to roll down her window. I leaned over and asked a bloke who approached if they needed a hand. In the same instant that he replied, red eyed and bleary, that they could manage I realised that several men were standing facing the bushes at the side of the road. Oh, boy. I had just asked a bus load of not very sober men, who had stopped to pee in the bushes, if I could give them a hand! I left. Quickly.

I'm kinda short. At the grocery store on day, I needed to get something from the top shelve and couldn't reach it. A guy was on a ladder near it and I extended my arm pointing to what I needed and said, " Would you please grab me" pause, trying to remember what it was I wanted him to grab off the shelf for me... and then I remembered. I got a funny look at first. AWWW those senior moments. LOL

  125. my life is funny...in so many ways. I try hard not to dress "old" if you know what I mean. I have an aunt who dresses old as well as my mother. I work with them every day. I was getting ready for work one morning and asked my daughter which belt to wear. Her reply "it doesn't matter, that shirt is broken. no belt will help" I thought oh she is crazy! so I finished getting ready! As I was walking in the door of work my aunt and mother said to one another "doesn't Rhonda look nice today?" Needless to say I won't wear that shirt again and I didn't tell my daughter!!!

  129. I can't honestly think of anything funny that happened to me recently although I'm pretty sure if I asked my husband he'd think of something. I'm always doing something goofy.

I guess I'll have to go with the joke option. :)
I'll add that this is a joke I recently read somewhere although I'm sorry that I cannot recall where. My father retired from being a judge for over 20 yrs but prior to that he was a lawyer for many years. My son has chosen to follow in Grandpa's foosteps and is currently in law school himself. I read this not long ago and it hit my funny bone because of the history in my own family. Hopefully you'll like this one too.

One day, a teacher, a garbage collector and a lawyer wound up together at the Pearly Gates. St Peter informed them that in order to get into Heaven, they would each have to answer one question.

St Peter addressed the teacher and asked “What was the name of the ship that crashed into an iceberg? They just made a movie about it”
The teacher answered quickly, “That would be the Titanic.”
St Peter let him through the gate.

St Peter turned to the garbage man and decided to make the question a little harder, “How many people died on the ship?”
Fortunately for him, the trash man had just seen the movie and answered, “About 1,500.” “That’s right! You may enter.”

St Peter then turned to the lawyer. “Name them.”

  132. Wow! Everyone has great funny stories/jokes! Mine is not craft related, it's about my daughter who is now 18. I needed to get gas one day and I asked her to pump it as she has in the past. She told me didn't really know how to...and I said you have done it before so please do it again for me while I make my purchases. Being a mom, who wants her daughter to be self-sufficient, I got out of the car and gave instructions how to remove the nozzle and insert it, how to select the gas type, and how to pump without having to hold the nozzle. I told her when it was done to put the nozzle back where she got it and then went into the store to make my purchases. The next thing I knew she came running in the store in a state of panic saying "MOM! The pump is broke!". I wish you could have seen her desperate face. In my mind, I was thinking "only my daughter can do that". LOL! She's my clumsy, awkward girl, which as she ages she's growing out of. Upon inspection, she did not break the pump. The pump stopped and as you know this signifies that the tank can hold no more gas. I explained this to her and it's been a running joke in our family that she cannot pump gas anymore! The best thing about this is she laughs harder about than anyone else about the experience!

  136. Well, I've been kinda depressed lately, so the funny story thing is a stretch; but today at Weight Watchers they were talking about emotional eating, you know, eating not really because you're hungry but because you're stressed, bored, whatever. So the leader ended with this quote, which made me smile: "When hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution -- so face your stuff, don't stuff your face!"

  137. Funny? I guess I need to focus more on the little things each day because I'm having a hard time finding humor right now. OK, let's try... I had a plan to clean the house today. It was funny thinking that that was actually going to happen. Doesn't count? Let's try again... my 2 year old singing with Bear (in the big blue house) is adorable. It's not really funny, but it sure is cute. I hope that counts because I've been racking my brain for like 5 minutes.

Living in a small town we are not used to modern conveniences, so the day that my daughter and I went to the grocery store, I was walking, talking to her, leaning forward to push the door open when suddenly it flew open all on it's own! I just about fell on my face and then we started to laugh and laugh and laugh... to this day I chuckle when I go through that automatic door!!

  140. I saw this one recently:

    Signs Of Getting Old

Three older ladies were discussing the travails of getting older. One
said, "Sometimes I catch myself with a jar of mayonnaise in my hand in
front of the refrigerator and can't remember whether I need to put it
away or start making a sandwich."

The second lady chimed in, "Yes, sometimes I find myself on the landing
of the stairs and can't remember whether I was on my way up or on my way
    down."

    The third one responded, "Well, I'm glad I don't have that problem;
knock on wood," as she rapped her knuckles on the table. "Oh!" she
exclaimed. "That must be the door -- I'll get it!"

  141. Here's my chuckle for the day:
While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: 'Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into the hole he goooes.' (I want this line used at my funeral!)

  147. You probably had to be there, but in work we have a community refrigerator. As I was putting my lunch in there, someone else's plastic container flew out, onto the floor, upside down, no less, and AFTER the lid flew off! It was meatloaf with gravy! Oh, no! and what a mess! I couldn't help but start to giggle, which grew into uncontrollable laughter! Luckily it was a very OLD lunch that someone had forgotten about.

  150. Several weeks ago, just before my husband and I were heading out of town to visit his family, he announced that he needed to get his oil changed. So while I packed, he went out to run a few errands and have his oil changed. About an hour and a half later, I hear my cell phone ring. As I answer, my husband breathlessly asks, "Are you still at home?" I said that I was and asked why he needed to know. He replied that he was at the oil change shop and they had his car on the ramps and that the mechanics were almost done and... that he had left his wallet on his bedside table and could I please bring it to him.

  152. True story ... I lost my eyebrows to chemo and they've never really come back so I have to draw them on. I used to have bangs but because of losing my hair, too, and it not coming back like it was, I have a lot of exposed forehead.

I gave a presentation last week and had been in a bit of a rush that morning. It wasn't until an hour after my presentation during a trip to the washroom that I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and realized, my personal horror and hilarity, that I'd forgotten to draw on one of my eyebrows. I looked pretty off-balance. It must have been pretty distracting for the people I was presenting to. Nobody said a think but they HAD to have noticed. Pretty glaring. Pretty funny. Funny looking, that is.

  155. A joke: A friend hosted a dinner party for family far and wide and everyone was encouraged to bring all their children as well. All during the sit-down dinner one four-year-old girl stared at the uncle sitting across from her. The girl could hardly eat her food for staring. The uncle checked his tie, felt his face for food, patted his hair in place but nothing stopped her from staring at him. He tried his best to just ignore her but finally it was too much for him. He finally asked her "Why are you staring at me?"
Everyone at the table had noticed her behavior and the table went quiet for her response. The little girl said "I just want to see how you drink like a fish."

Thanks for the chance to win.

Things are always funny when children are in the picture. I was babysitting my 3 yr old grandson one day. I had come to sit next to him on the couch with a book in hand. When I sat down, and my hand touched his leg, there was a bit of static. His eyes got huge and a tear lodged in his throat as he asked 'Who pinched me?' Poor thing couldn't believe Oma would do such a thing! It was futile to try to explain about static electricity at that point...
